Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is gaining popularity for adults to train as a sport, martial art, and a way of life. But what about kids in jiu jitsu? Jiu Jitsu is a great martial art for kids to learn, and also a fun way for them to get fit. Training Jiu Jitsu offers many benefits to kids. The top five benefits we have seen in our students are: confidence, physical health, discipline, patience, and friendship.

Confidence

Once your child starts training in Jiu Jitsu, they will start gaining confidence. By learning a new skill, and how to use that skill, they will feel more confident in their physical abilities. The positive reinforcement from their instructors will benefit their self-assurance in the sport. Through consistent training, their accomplishments in Jiu Jitsu will give them pride.

Physical Health

With the decline in Physical Education in schools, it is important that children stay active. Jiu Jitsu will not only give them a life skill, but also physical skills as well. Jiu Jitsu classes have physical conditioning to prepare kids for learning new drills and techniques. By training in class several times a week, kids will stay active physically. There is no better way to make lasting friendships than to “Slap, Bump, and Roll!” Having a good training partner is essential when training in Jiu Jitsu. Kids not only learn how to work on their own techniques, but they learn how to help their partner learn as well. Training together and learning together is a great bonding experience.

Involving kids in Jiu Jitsu will offer them many rewards. Not only will they learn a sport and a Marital Art, but they will learn a lot of skills they can apply to their life at any time. By sticking with their training, staying focused, and being patient, they will be proud of their progress, and have a lot of fun along the way!
